Live Painting at the Mississippi Governor's Mansion April 2023

“Remember when you wanted what you currently have…”

Sadly, I often have to remind myself of the above quote. When I started painting as a hobby 15 years ago, never in my wildest imagination did I think I would be asked to paint live at a soiree at the Governor’s Mansion! Feeling honored is an understatement… and having the opportunity to give back to my home state is the cherry on top!

The Mississippi Governor’s Mansion is the second oldest continuously occupied governor’s mansion in the country. Architectural historians consider the it to be one of the finest surviving examples of the Greek Revival style in the United States.

Mississippi First Lady Else Reeves has revived the Friends of the Mansion program which generates support and interest for the preservation of the historic section of the Mansion. I was honored to paint “en plein air” with the finished painting being auctioned to raise additional funds.
