I love painting the BEAUTIFUL Mississippi Museum of Art gardens!

How are you coping with this crazy and unsettling time? COVID-19 has turned all of our worlds upside down… for me, the days are running together and my motivation is nowhere to be found! I don’t know about you, but I’m learning more and more about myself each and every day I’m not allowed to do the things I have always taken for granted.

After the first few days of quarantine, I felt the need to get out in nature and paint. I saw on Instagram that the Mississippi Museum of Art had closed to the public, but its beautiful gardens were still open. A dear friend and I packed up paints, easels and canvases and took separate cars to downtown Jackson!

Absolutely beautiful weather, lush gardens and a good friend are just plain good for the soul. Plein air painting is invigorating and ALWAYS teaches me something. It’s hard but it’s fun. I left with my spirits lifted and a sense that everything will be OK.

Take care of yourselves!

A strong start! This easel has been “plein air painting” with me for over 10 years!"
